Delivery and Installation
Once an equipment item is available, DES will arrange the delivery and installation to the person's home.
Equipment Liaison Officers (ELO) deliver and install smaller equipment items (up to approx 15kg in weight) in the Adelaide metropolitan area. The ELOs will adjust the item as per specifications detailed on the prescription form, and ensure that the item is installed correctly. They will also provide education to the client and their carers in safe use of the equipment. For complex and custom items, it is expected that the prescriber will complete the required education following delivery.
For larger and heavy items, DES has a contract agreement with TOLL who provide dedicated to service DES. For metropolitan deliveries, they are trained to install and educate clients and carers in safe use of the equipment. Where the delivery is to the country, DES may organise a contractor to set up the equipment item as needed (for example adjustable bed).
Prior to delivery, DES will liaise with the client or their carer to ensure that access to the property is clear and the area that the item is to be placed is ready.
When items are delivered, Safe Operating Procedures are provided with the item.
On delivery, if any issues or concerns about the item have been identified, the ELO will advise the prescriber before leaving the equipment in place.
